I thought for my first post I would share something I am
very proud of… My bridal bouquets!! I love, love, LOVE weddings!! My friends
and family who know this usually ask me for help with their wedding planning,
especially when it comes to the flowers! I love silk flowers- I admit, I have
sort of an obsession with them! When the season changes at the craft stores I can’t
help but browse through them and wish someone was getting married and would ask
me to make their bouquets.
I have been so very lucky to make silk flower bridal bouquets
for several of my friends and family, and it is some of my proudest work! There’s
nothing like the feeling of knowing you have helped someone on what is one of
the most important days of their lives!
The first wedding I did bouquets for was, of course, my very
own! I was married in 2007, back before I had a digital camera so the pictures
are pitiful! But here they are :

You can probably tell from the pictures of my wedding flowers that I am old fashioned, but I do love a little bling! I added a little pink flower with a rhinestone center inside the middle of each white rose.

And sadly, I was unfortunate to not be much a part of any weddings
for some time after that (since my brother ran off to Vegas -which I am still
mad at him for!! lol!) Until I got a call from my then soon-to-be cousin, who was
planning a last minute wedding ceremony and wanted my help with anything I
could pull together for her. She had no wedding bouquets and the night before
her wedding I threw together a bouquet for her and one for her maid of honor. I
am proud to say they were made entirely from floral scraps I had left over from
other projects, and a few spools of ribbon!

In 2011, my very best friend was getting married! Of
course, she asked me to do her bridal bouquets among several other crafty
things! She had a fall wedding and I made every floral item she wanted for her wedding day :

Each of the brides wore a different fall color so I made each bridesmaid a bouquet with their dress color as the main color. Here are all the bouquets:

In 2013, I was helping 2 brides in the same year! I wish
every year I could help at least two brides, I had so much fun!
In June, my cousin was getting married and had a Spiderman themed
wedding! It was done very tastefully and she picked out a really beautiful
arrangement of flowers I had tons of fun with! She even had me “jazz it up” with
a little bling and stuff which I have always wanted to do with a bridal
bouquet!

In August, another cousin of mine was getting married and
she had a tough time figuring out her flowers. I do get this a lot from brides
because their options are so limitless! I can do whatever their heart
desires and silk flowers are rather inexpensive compared to real flowers. She
picked out a bunch of big, fun, brightly colored gerbera daisys for her
bridesmaids and at first we picked out this for her bridal bouquet:

Which we both liked a lot but she just wasn’t “in love” with
it. So I took her back to the craft store and this amazing and gorgeous bouquet
is what we came up with :

I have to say, it is my favorite of the ones I have made so far! and I made a matching toss bouquet

She decided to go with pocket squares instead of Boutonnieres
I have another cousin who is planning a wedding, and she has
asked me to make her flowers. I am SUPER excited about it! But I can’t share
anything until after her wedding which is not until 2015 ! And even though it is very
painful for me when it comes to crafts- because I can’t wait to share what I
have made- I am really good at keeping secrets :)
